Lady Bugs 2004-2005 Season
The Chesswood Lady Bugs first tournament of the season was the London Ladies Classic Hockey Tournament, which took place on November 6&7 in London. Unfortunately the Lady Bugs remained winless throughout the tournament. Pamela Coville and Cathy Richardson scored the only Lady Bug goals. In the senior BB championship, Harrow County Blues defeated the Bluewater Hawks, by a score of 3-0.
The weekend of November 27 & 28, the Lady Bugs traveled to North Halton (and surrounding area) to participate in the North Halton Twisters Hockey Tournament. The Lady Bugs put on a very strong showing and earned their first win of the season in a 2-0 victory vs. Orangeville. In the Championship game, Cobourg defeated Burlington 2 - 1.
The weekend of January 21-23, the Lady Bugs participated in the Newtonbrook Tournament at the Ice Gardens at York Universtity. They lost their first game Friday night vs. Burlington, by a score of 6-0. Early Saturday morning they tied Peterborough 1-1, but lost a close game to Barrie in the afternoon, by a score of 2-1. The Lady Bugs late night game against Aurora was recorded as a 3-0 loss. In the Championship game, Aurora defeated Burlington 1-0.
The weekend of March 18-20, the Lady Bugs traveled to Niagara Falls to participate in the Niagara Falls Panthers 29th Annual Women's Ice Hockey Tournament. The Lady Bugs tied Etobicoke on Friday night, 3-3, with Cathy Richardson getting one of the goals, and Leanne Murray scoring the other two goals. Unfortunately, the Lady Bugs were not able to score in their final two games, losing to Durham 4-0 and to Cobourg by a score of 5-0. In the Championship game, Blue Water defeated Cobourg, in overtime, by a score of 2-1.
Overall, it was a disappointing 5th season for the Chesswood Lady Bugs - they finished in last place in Tier 2 of the North Metro Girls Hockey League. Despite having a league record of 1-15-8, and an overall record of 2-28-10, the Lady Bugs were competitive in most of their games this season, but had a problem putting the puck in the net.
