Lady Bugs 2005-2006 Season
New this year, the North Metro Girls Hockey League has implemented 90 minute games wherever possible, resulting in periods of 12/15/15 with a flood after the second period. We will have an east and a west division with teams playing each team in their division four times and each team in the other division, two times. Most games will be held on weekends, and this new format has drawn some new teams into the league so the season promises to be an exciting one!
The Chesswood Lady Bugs competed in the Newtonbrook tournament Jan 13-15th, winning three of their four round-robin games but losing to the Buffalo Regals in the Finals. Congratulations to the Lady Bugs on a great tournament! Their next tournament is in Stoney Creek, Feb 10-12th.
The Chesswood Lady Bugs competed in the Stoney Creek tournament Feb 10-12th, managing only a tie in one of the round-robin games. The Finals were between Stoney Creek and the Syracuse Warriors. The Lady Bugs next tournament is in Niagara Falls, March17-19th.
The Chesswood Lady Bugs competed in the Niagara Falls tournament Mar 17-19th, but were unable to score in any of their round-robin games. The Finals were between Oshawa and Bluewater with Oshawa winning 3-2 in a shoot-out. The Lady Bugs next tournament is the Provincials, April 7 - 9th.
In the NMGHL Championship weekend, the Lady Bugs lost the first game to Stoney Creek, with 3 minutes left in overtime by a score of 2 to 1. In the Consolation Finals, the Lady Bugs defeated Grafton, with 1 1/2 minutes left in overtime, by a score of 2 to 1.
In the Provincials, the Lady Bugs defeated Stoney Creek by a score of 2 to 1, but lost to Woodstock by a score of 2 to 1 and to Baltimore by a score of 4 to 0, thereby not advancing any further.
